Studio London Flawless Finish Foundation

Look, I’m all for budget makeup but everything has its limit. That limit is usually foundation. You need your base to be flawless – it’s the most important thing! For years I felt that budget foundations just didn’t hold up. That this was where you needed to invest. My go to foundations hovered around the £30 or £50 mark. Was I happy about it? No. But that’s just how things went.

So, I hope you can appreciate that when Superdrug sent me home with a well-matched shade of their new foundation I was apprehensive to say the least. Their Studio London Flawless Finish Foundation costs just £9. A great price for a foundation but it set my expectations low. I’m here to tell you why it holds its own against mid-range brands and why it’s now my go-to.

The Details

Okay, let’s start with the details: Studio London Flawless Finish Foundation. It’s a low to mid coverage foundation which you’d expect to give you a flawless finish. I can confirm that it does give a gorgeous ‘your skin but better’ coverage whilst feeling lightweight on the skin. The foundation does well to even out skin tone and does an amazing job of holding coverage over spots and redness hours on.

It’s also advertised as 12 hour wear and giving SPF 20 coverage. Personally, I’d never depend on a foundation for SPF coverage so please err on the side of caution and use a separate SPF product in your routine. However, as for the 12 hour wear – I think that’s a pretty fair claim! On long days (or nights) out I’ve never noticed any issues or weird separations. Not even on my nose where these sort of issues usually happen! I think this is what surprised me most about this budget foundation – I really didn’t expect it to look nice hours later.

As with most Superdrug products, I’m happy to report that this foundation is both vegan and cruelty-free. In fact, the whole Studio London makeup range is. Very handy!

Finally, the foundation comes in 20 shades – a good amount for a light-to-mid coverage foundation – which are spread from dark to fair. My pale yellow-ish winter skin is a perfect shade 16. More help could be given online to help people identify the best shade for them.

Why I love it

There’s so much to love about this foundation! The application is smooth and easy. As someone that doesn’t like heavy coverage, I love how easy it is to blend out a modest amount on the face.

It looks so effortlessly natural. It lasts well throughout the day and looks great.

I personally find it very similar to two of my favourite foundations: the Kjaer Weis Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation (£42) and Huda Beauty GloWish Skin Tint (£34). Whilst I still prefer these two foundations (the Huda Beauty one being my current favourite) – I find this Superdrug foundation so similar that there’s no need to spend so much more!

Honestly, this is such a good money saving swap I can’t recommend it highly enough for those that love a low-to-mid, natural looking coverage.
