Lush Hair Lab Brighton (Is It Worth It??)
I love Lush. I’ve done their spas, I use their products daily, and honestly? I’m starting to treat loving Lush as a personality trait. So when I found out they have a hair salon (!!) just a train ride to Brighton away – I knew I had to try it. BUT if you’re anything like me, there’s a chance that you starting second guessing your impulse once you saw the price list. The Lush Hair Lab is not cheap! BUT is it worth it?
Well, I’ll give you the full breakdown of what I booked, what it cost, what they used on my hair, and whether I’d go again.
And yes, I will absolutely convince you to turn it into a full vegan Brighton day trip.
If you’d rather take a look than read about it, check out this video:
What I Booked (And How Much It Cost)
I booked a Botanical Cut and Style with a Fresh Treatment.
- Cut & style: £85
- Fresh treatment add-on: £15
Total: £100
NB: Though on the day, I did get £15 off because it was my birthday month! Lush are known for their random acts of kindness, so maybe you’ll get luck too! My appointment lasted around 2–2.5 hours, so it’s a proper, slow, immersive treatment rather than a quick turnaround cut.
First Impressions: Lush, But Make It A Salon
Lush are already known for sensory overload in the best possible way: bold scents, vivid colours, a maximalist vibe. The Brighton Hair Lab builds on this completely.

There’s a little café area (I think it’s reduced since to make more way for more hair cuts) but the drink menu is still just as impressive! It’s basically ‘imagine if Lush had a cafe’ aesthetic which – of course – changes seasonally. Around Christmas you could find Snow Fairy hot chocs and Sleepy Bear lattes on the menu!
The space feels more identity-led than spa-like. There are rainforest soundscapes, warm lighting, and a cosy atmosphere that still feels very “Lush” rather than generic wellness spa.
The Consultation: Find Your Signature Lush Routine
I’ve had plenty of hair consultations over the years, but this one really stood out. It wasn’t just ‘“Show me your Pinterest board”, it covered:
- How I style my hair
- My everyday vibe
- What Lush products I’ve loved/hated in the past
- Scalp issues
- Hair goals
- Whether I wanted a vegan-only service
They were careful to make sure every single product used on me was vegan, which I appreciated.

My stylist chose a full mix-and-match routine based on my hair type:
- Calm Down Fresh Scalp Treatment
- Hsuan Wen Hua Hair Treatment
- Swell Shampoo
- Valkyrie Conditioner
- Super Milk Conditioning Spray
Let’s be honest, where Lush don’t do matching shampoo/conditioner duos, it can be hard to figure out your perfect pairings. So getting personalised recommendations like this is a huge part of the value for money!
The Cut & Treatment Experience
This was genuinely the most relaxing hair appointment I’ve had.
- A heated, weighted blanket during the hair wash
- Slow, comforting scalp massage
- Fresh mask worked into the lengths
- Salt shampoo used as a gentle exfoliator
- A personalised scent journey
- Soft rain-like soundscape
- No-rush trimming and styling

I asked for long layers, more shape around the front, and a soft U-shape at the back. My stylist (Yo Alexi) was brilliant, I always do my best to book back in with them! My hair felt soft and hydrated for days afterwards. The one thing to note is that Lush don’t really do strong-hold hairsprays, so if you’re hoping for a set-in-place blow dry, maybe consider bringing your own. For my everyday low-effort style though, it was perfect.
Is The Lush Hair Lab Worth The £100?
Honestly? Yes, but probably only if you’re a Lush fan. It’s not cheap, but vegan and ethical salons rarely are. I pay similar prices in London, and the experience at Lush is more memorable and luxurious.
The value for money really comes from:
- The personalised consultation
- The scent and sensory experience
- The use of fresh treatments
- Free cafe drink
- The relaxing environment
- The long appointment time
- The chance to try rare or discontinued products
- The overall “Lush-ness” of it all
If only they had one in London so I didn’t have to factor in the train fare…
Tips Before You Book
- Tell them you’re vegan so they can swap all products
- Bring your own hairspray if you want strong hold
- 100% book the treatment add-on
- Allow 2–2.5 hours
- Ask about rare or discontinued products
- Bring a Lush bag (it SWEAR increases your chance of a Random Act of Kindness)
- If you need it: they offer mirrorless, low-stimulation, and Afro hair services
- Make a day of Brighton! It’s the vegan capital of the UK
Make A Day Of It: My Vegan Brighton Favourites
Brighton really was the OG vegan haven long before everywhere else caught up. Here are my recommendations for what to do with your new ‘do in Brighton…
- Infinity Foods: Make this your last stop and bring a big bag! You’ll want to stock up on so many rare vegan finds from this store. A real iconic Brighton spot. Think niche vegan finds, eco refills, vegan dog food, natural food brands, and ingredients you’ll never find in London.
- Eden Perfumes: Vegan, cruelty-free, refillable perfume dupes. Perfect place to find an ethical alternative to your old favourite scent.
- Book in: You’ll be overwhelmed for choice with restaurants in Brighton, you genuinely can’t go wrong! But I personally recommend No Catch for vegan fish and chips by the pier or Purezza for pizza.
Final Thoughts

The Lush Hair Lab Brighton is exactly what you’d expect from Lush: scented, inclusive, warm, cosy, maximalist, and quietly chaotic in the nicest possible way. It isn’t cheap, but it is good value for money. If you’re a Lush lover, it’s honestly a dream.
Even though I said I’d save it for special occasions, I’ve already been back more than once.
