The Body Shop’s Makeup Has a Susty Makeover
The Body Shop has relaunched their makeup range with a new susty makeover! I must say I’m pleasantly surprised by the revamp. While some of the changes may not be revolutionary, I think they are a great step in the right direction.

The Products
Refills

The Body Shop is making strides towards a more eco-conscious approach to beauty, and their refillable Peptalk Lipstick is a perfect example of that. With an impressive range of 20 shades, this lipstick is not only gorgeous but also refillable. That means you can reduce your waste by reusing the same packaging, which is a great step towards a more sustainable future. But – and this is a big “but – it’s important to note that it takes about five refills for it to be more environmentally friendly than other standard plastic lipsticks. So, while it’s a fantastic option, we need to remember that sustainability is a journey that requires commitment from both the brand and the consumer.

The Tea Tree Face Base from The Body Shop not only gives you a flawless matte finish with medium coverage, but it’s also eco-friendly! The compact comes with a built-in mirror, making it perfect for on-the-go touch-ups. And best of all, it’s refillable, so you can reduce your waste and keep your makeup bag clutter-free. The formula is infused with tea tree oil, which is known for its antibacterial properties, so it’s perfect for those with oily or blemish-prone skin. With 40 shades available, you’re bound to find your perfect match.
Aluminium

The Second Skin Tint foundation now comes in fully recyclable packaging, including an aluminium tube made from 95% PCR aluminium and a recyclable plastic cap, which is a fantastic step towards reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.

Their Freestyle Multi-Tasking Crayons are both versatile and eco-friendly. They come in fully recyclable packaging: The wooden pencil is made from FSC-certified wood, and the aluminium cap is recyclable. It’s a small step, but it’s a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable beauty industry.

The Body Shop’s Freestyle Multi-Tasking Colour is colour in an aluminium tube. Not only is it a multipurpose product that can be used on the lips, cheeks, and even as an eyeshadow, but it also helps cut down on the number of products you need in your makeup bag. This not only saves you money but is also great for the environment since fewer products mean less waste. It’s versatile, easy to use, and eco-friendly, making it a must-have for anyone conscious of their impact on the environment.
While it’s worth noting that the new mascaras are not recyclable due to the mix of materials, I appreciate The Body Shop’s transparency about this issue. After all, sustainability is a journey, and it’s important to acknowledge areas where there is room for improvement.
Why’s It Taken So Long?
Whilst I’m excited to see The Body Shop making strides towards sustainability in their makeup line, I can’t help but wonder why it took them so long to get on board with refillable packaging. Many other brands, such as Rose Inc, Charlotte Tilbury, and Lush, have been offering refillable makeup products for quite some time now.
It’s no secret that consumers are increasingly concerned about the impact of the beauty industry on the environment, and susty practices are becoming more of a priority for many of us. So, it’s surprising that The Body Shop, a brand known for its ethical and environmentally conscious ethos, hasn’t been at the forefront of this movement.
That being said, it’s still a step in the right direction, and I hope that other brands will follow suit. It’s important for all of us to take responsibility for our impact on the planet, and the beauty industry is no exception.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m quite excited about The Body Shop’s new makeup range. While they may be a little late to the game, I think it’s great to see them taking steps towards sustainability and making changes that can have a positive impact on the environment. I hope that other brands will follow suit and that we can all work together to create a more responsible approach to consumption.
