John Lewis Launches BeautyCycle Scheme to Reward “my John Lewis” Customers
In an effort to eliminate waste, John Lewis has teamed up with TerraCycle to reward loyal customers for recycling their empties. The scheme gives ‘my John Lewis’ customers the chance to earn £5 off when they hand in 5 empty products.
Bulldog Sells in China – and Keeps Leaping Bunny Status!
Male skincare brand Bulldog will begin exporting their products to China and keep their Leaping Bunny status in the process. Currently, Chinese law dictates that imported cosmetics must be tested on animals. However, according to Bulldog, they have struck a ‘unique agreement’ to sell in Shanghai without the need for animal testing.
Precise details of how this has been achieved are yet to be divulged. According to a press release, Bulldog will manufacture their products in the UK and fill them in the Fenxian manufacturing zone – before putting them on shelves.
M&S Food Plans to Veganise all Own-Label Wines by 2022
M&S celebrated World Vegan Day by committing to have all its own-brand wines vegan-friendly by the end of 2022. That might feel like a long way off but their already ahead of most supermarkets when it comes to offering clearly-labelled vegan wine. Currently, 70% of the M&S wine range is suitable for vegans. This includes favourites like M&S Prosecco (£7), Chablis (£12), Vinalta Malbec (£9) and Delacourt Champagne NV (£25).
Holland & Barret to Start Charging 5p for Paper Bags
Vegan favourite Holland & Barrett has started charging customers 5p for single-use plastic bags. The move comes as part of an effort to encourage customers to completely ditch single-use bags. Group Innovation Director, Hilary Leam, said: “It’s part of our commitment to supporting our customers towards reusing key materials and reducing their waste.”
Ikea Goes 100% Vegan for Christmas
The Swedish furniture giant is taking meat off the menu this Christmas, replacing its traditional turkey roast with tarts! This includes a vegetarian Brie and Cranberry Open Tart and a vegan Root Vegetable Tart Tatin. Customers will also find vegan-friendly mince pies on the menu.
Costa Scrap Soy Surcharge
The high street coffee chain announced they won’t be charging customers who want plant-based milk this Christmas. This includes coconut, almond and soy (which is already included in the price of your coffee). Costa confirmed that this will continue to be the case for soy milk following the festive season. However, they have not yet confirmed if they will start charging for almond and coconut come January.
