With Christmas (somewhat) on the horizon, it’s that time of year again to help you prep for your December mornings with my advent calendar recommendations. There’s so many beauty advents on the market but only a few are fully vegan and cruelty-free. Knowing how elusive these gems can be, I’ve taken it upon myself to curate the definitive list for you!

Furthermore, I’ve also added a list at the end with a handful of popular calendars that, sadly, don’t meet the vegan and cruelty-free criteria – but it’s essential information nonetheless! The Body Shop – Advent Calendar of Change

For the first time ever, The Body Shop has introduced a vegan option among their Christmas advent calendars! This change has been long-awaited, especially since they’ve been offering three different advent calendars each year for quite some time now. After a conversation with their customer service, it has been confirmed that their Advent Calendar of Change is indeed vegan. However, the other two are not completely vegan. Regardless, all of their advents are cruelty-free and brimming with The Body Shop products.

Advent Calendar of Change – Priced at just £59, this calendar offers incredible value with contents worth £119. You’ll be saving £60 while indulging in a delightful selection of skincare, body care, and accessories

I must admit, I find it a bit peculiar that not all of The Body Shop’s calendars are vegan, particularly given the company’s plans to go fully vegan by the end of 2023. That being said, The Body Shop’s relationship with vegans has always been a bit odd, don’t you think?

Holland & Barrett 25 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar

For those seeking unbeatable value for money, Holland & Barrett’s Advent Calendar is a top choice. Priced at just £45, they’re now in their fourth year of offering a fully vegan advent experience. With a mere £1.80 per door, you’ll enjoy products worth over £179 in total. Inside, anticipate a selection of offerings from sustainably minded brands, including Ethique, Dr. Organic, Weleda and Faith in Nature. This calendar perfectly combines affordability, ethics and eco-consciousness, making it a great way to try a variety of brands and seamlessly transition to a vegan and cruelty-free routine at a budget-friendly price.

Lush – All Calendars 

When it comes to vegan advent magic, you can always rely on Lush. This year, they’re offering two fantastic options:

Christmas Buds Advent Calendar – Priced at £125, it’s packed with 25 bath products, including items exclusive to this advent calendar.

Lush Advent Calendar – Priced at £195, this calendar is brimming with Lush gifts, including perfumes, lip scrubs, bath treats, and even a candle! Some of the products are exclusive to this calendar. If I had a bath, I’d struggle to resist investing in this one! 

Both of these calendars are crafted from 100% recycled board, and even the ribbon is made of 100% recycled polyester sourced from recycled drinks bottles.

• The Body Shop: While they have a vegan advent (details above), the Advent Calendar of Wonders and the Advent Calendar of Wishes and Wonders are not.

• Cult Beauty Advent Calendar 2023 is unfortunately not fully vegan or cruelty-free.

• Charlotte’s Lucky Chest of Beauty Secrets 12 Door Beauty Advent Calendar is unfortunately not fully vegan. Charlotte Tilbury is cruelty-free, though their parent company is not.
