Like many women, I’ve started thinking more and more about fast fashion and the impact my consumer habits have on the world. I’ve learnt the dirty secrets of non-organic cotton and lost trust in major retailers that are decreasing the quality of our clothes year after year so that we buy more and more. I’m making changes and I’m starting with the basics.

Organic Basics reached out to me and offered me a gift voucher for their store in exchange for a fair review. I treated myself to this underwear pack (1x triangle bra, 2x thongs) and a GUPPYFRIEND wash bag which prevents microplastics from entering waterways as I do my laundry.
WHAT I LOVE

Top Tips for Shopping Organic Basics
My one biggest bit of advice would be to pay close attention to their size guide. I wouldn’t have expected my 36C boobs to be L large or my size 12/14 bum to be XL. Thankfully, I checked this through carefully before ordering and everything fits!
I would say that whilst the thongs are gorgeous and blend in well beneath leggings, I do prefer lace for a comfier fit around the hips.

Organic Basics use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) organic cotton. This means that the cotton is grown without harmful insecticides and pesticides. It also guarantees that the factories used pay living wages, offer perks to employees and treat them with respect.
Organic Basics care about preventing climate change and have gone carbon balanced. They partnered with Chooose, who invest in UN verified or Gold Standard CO2 reducing projects in developing countries – like solar power in India and wind power in Turkey. For every order placed they now offset one hundred kilos of CO2 through funding the Koru Wind Farm in Canakkale, Turkey.
Postage and shipping from them isn’t the environmental ordeal it is with other retailers! Not only is it carbon balanced, but everything is sent in 100% recycled packaging. Just be sure to reuse their envelope for your next parcel to help save the environment.
Conclusion
Coming from someone that’s bought their underwear from exclusively M&S and Primark (yikes) over the years, I’ve noticed a big improvement in quality from these Organic Basics pieces. I can tell that these are going to last me years. The look is also gorgeous and timeless – the thongs are seamless beneath formfitting clothes and the bra is both comfortable and flattering.
I’m also hugely impressed with the length Organic Basics go to to ensure that everything is ethical. They work with certified suppliers to avoid green-washing lies which are oh-so common in the fashion industry.
However, I’m not suggesting you replace your whole underwear draw with Organic Basics essentials today. It’d be wasteful to get rid of products you already have, plus it would cost tonnes to switch all at once! But, perhaps, next time you need a new bra or pair of knickers you can invest in some long-lasting, ethical essentials. It’s cost effective over time, the quality is incredible and you know you’re funding a better world.
