Guide to Vegan Beauty Boxes UK

Vegan beauty boxes are great for discovering new brands and new products. I’d always recommend these to new vegans looking to switch up their makeup bag, as they’re one of the most cost-effective ways of trying out new vegan products. They’re also great for more experienced vegans still trying to find their perfect products or those who want to support small businesses.

There are tonnes of vegan beauty boxes on the market these days, each with a unique offering. Read on to find out more about each box and figure out which is right for you.

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box

• Good for: personalisation, palm oil free, value for money, build your own boxes
• Subscription details: £14.95 a month, 5 products in each box

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box (TCFBB) are the best for personalising boxes as they get you to fill out a short questionnaire as you subscribe. This means that the makeup and skincare they send will be chosen with your preferences in mind.

As someone with a LOT of beauty products, I’m a big fan of their ‘build your own box’ as I can get 5 products for just £20 and I can choose things I actually want and need. This is a great option for those who want to minimise their beauty waste: you won’t get stuck with products you’ll never use and they have plenty of ‘plastic free’ options to pick from.

Their online shop is amazing and often has great sales on, so do sign up to their mailing list to keep updated. They’ve recently launched a couple new sections on their site; mens and plastic free.

Shade Sirch

• Good for: black beauty, supporting minority owned businesses

Shade Sirch is the first ever beauty box full of solely minority owned brands. On top of all that, it’s also committed to staying vegan and cruelty free.

This box is so important for helping beauty lovers discover black and minority owned businesses. Exposure is so important for the success of small businesses and Shade Sirch is committed to creating a supportive community to help these businesses thrive and grow.

The Natural Beauty Box

• Great for: natural products, themed boxes
• Subscription details: £25 per box, with monthly or every other month options available. Products will always be worth £50 or over. Subscribe here.

This is great for those that love green beauty and want to make sure that the products they use on their skin aren’t only vegan and cruelty free but also very clean and natural. The products in The Natural Beauty Box (TNBB) are always free from nasty chemicals and known skin irritants such as parabens, SLS, synthetic fragrances, phthalates and mineral oil.

I’m a big fan of themed boxes and TNBB carefully curate the products in each box to align with a seasonal theme. For example, to celebrate #plasticfreejuly TNBB posted out a Zero Waste Beauty box and my January box was all about ‘cosy nights in’ – perfect for that cold, broke month.

The Pip Box

• Great for: themes, value for money
• Subscription details: £20 per month or £18.33 per month if you sign up for 3, 6 or 12 boxes in advance. Subscribe here.

Named after the founder’s pooch, The Pip Box was created to help people transition to cruelty-free products. Not only are they firmly against animal testing but all products featured in their boxes are vegan too.

Within the box you can expect to find make-up, skincare, hair care and bath and body care. You can check their instagram where they release sneak peaks for their upcoming boxes. Whilst the RRP of each box varies per month, the average is around £49+ per month, so you’re guaranteed good value for money. Even better, they make sure to avoid very small samples (sachets are banned!)

Glama Box

• Great for: customer loyalty, bi-monthly subscription
• Subscription details: £20 per box, sent every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November)

The Greedy Lama is an online vegan supermarket which sends out monthly lifestyle/food boxes and a beauty box every other month. The Glama box features a mixture of vegan and cruelty free makeup and skincare. Their beauty box is still quite new, so I’m excited to see more from them over the next few months.

Be sure to sign up to their loyalty programme where you can easily earn discounts through referrals, reviewing their products and even get enough for free delivery just by creating an account.

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box

• Good for: great value for money, exclusives, big brands
• Subscription details: £15.90 per box, one box every 2 months

The Vegan Kind first launched their lifestyle box in 2013 and since then have grown to launch a beauty box and an online supermarket. They’re pioneers and industry leaders, so they often get exclusive launches and great collaborations inside their boxes.

Within their beauty box you will find a great mixture of skincare, makeup and beauty products. Each box also features an article or guide from a content creator. Yours truly, proudly featured in their December 2018 box with a 5 Step Guide to Veganise Your Makeup Bag. That box was worth just a little less than £70, despite costing roughly £15.
