Isle of Paradise: Purple Tanning Water Review
After a successful spring fling with the blue bottle, I decided to level up. My decision was easy after returning from a disappointingly overcast summer holiday.
I found the purple bottle intimidating. It’s the dark one. The stakes (or should I say streaks) are high if mistakes are made. Fortunately soon after I began toying with the idea of buying the darker bottle, Boots had a third-off sale – it was a sign! Also adding to the pressure was that I had a big reunion night looming where I (obviously) wanted to look my best.
The Glow
The colour from the purple bottle was exactly what I was looking for! Whilst the blue bottle gave me a golden glow, this one gave me a total summer holidays look. It’s bronzed and sexy, totally natural looking and easy to upkeep.

I get plenty of compliments, ‘You look so brown! How was your holiday?’ The only thing no one asks is ‘What fake tan is that?’ because no one can tell!
Golden Goddess Transformation Steps
The application is so easy – as long as you use a tanning mitt!
- Exfoliate well a good 24h before hand & shave your legs as it will sting if you do this right before tanning
- After showering, lightly moisturise any dry parts – ankles, feet, elbows, etc
- Spritz the tan all over your body and leave the face til last. If you do a lot of yoga, you may be able to do your back, otherwise ask for help.
- Go to bed and wake up to admire your new golden body.
- Keep your tan topped up and hydrated with Happy Tan over the following week.
Colour Correcting Technology
The founder of Isle of Paradise, Jules, found the magic of colour correction perfected his tanning products when working with celebrities on shoots and backstage. There’s no need to fear tacky orange tans with Isle of Paradise as each of their tans are developed to look as natural as possible.

- Light tan uses peach which universally brightens
- Medium tan uses green tones to cancel redness
- Dark tan uses lilac to target yellow/sallow tones
Cruelty Free and Vegan
I’m pleased to say that all Isle of Paradise products are vegan and cruelty free:
On the Isle of Paradise, we believe our tanning products work even better without animal based ingredients. Self Tanning is for humans, not for bunnies, kittens, flamingos, sloths, possums or any other animal. If they wanted to use self tan they’d have learnt how to apply it by now, right? So with this in mind, we are passionately against all animal testing, 100% Vegan and use only organically sourced ingredients. Its that simple.

Island of Paradise also use organically sourced ingredients and are free from parabens, petrolatum, sulfates, toxins, GMO and gluten.
