the body shop is no longer fully vegan 🚨 (um, what happened??)

Remember 2024, when The Body Shop went 100% vegan? It was beautiful. Big campaigns. Big headlines. Joy and hope in the air. What a time.

Well, I’m sad to report that that’s… no longer the case. And no, you didn’t miss the press release. There isn’t one. Unless you’ve been actively digging (or sliding into customer services’ inboxes), you probably wouldn’t know.

‘the majority are also vegan’

This all started after a DM landed in my inbox flagging the change. So I did what any annoying vegan does and asked questions.

I emailed The Body Shop directly to clarify whether they’re still fully vegan. Here’s the response:

So there it is, The Body Shop is no longer a fully vegan brand. Some products are still vegan. All products are vegetarian. But the headline claim? Gone.

No announcement. No explanation.

So what’s not vegan?

NGL, I was driving myself crazy flicking through product pages and FAQs to try and discover what wasn’t vegan. So I went to customer services:

Here’s what I got back:

So apparently, (in Jan 2026) the only products holding back their claim is the Spa of the Worldâ„¢ Kukui and Hemp Hand Protector. Sorry?? Wdym they abandoned their vegan pledge for two products??

Honestly, I’m baffled. If I remember correctly, the spent years reformulating their products to make everything fully vegan! A mammoth task and a huge appeal to their target customer. And now? Undo???

I know The Body Shop’s been through administration. I know people were rooting for them to survive and return to the high street. I was one of them. But surviving doesn’t mean quietly undoing your ethics and hoping no one asks.

Why This Is Actually a Big Deal

Okay, yes, I’m gutted at them hitting undo on this achievement. But I’m really mad that they’ve been so quiet about it. You can’t shout from the rooftops about being 100% vegan, then quietly roll it back with a whisper. To rewind on this commitment without a press statement? Disrespectful and dangerous. The erosion of trust here is big.

I don’t shop with them regularly, so please let me know if anyone’s seen warnings or signs in store about the U-turn?

Because let’s be honest progress isn’t one big glossy announcement. It’s consistency. It’s keeping your promises. And right now? The Body Shop has some explaining to do.
