The Sustainable Swap that Saves you Money [ad]

There’s a common misconception that sustainability has to be expensive, which is actually in contradiction to sustainable beauty. Buying less but buying better is a great principle to live by and one which should save you money over time. One of the best things you can do for both the environment and for your purse is to invest in multipurpose products. Multi-purpose products are a great way to reduce waste and reduce plastic use, especially when you opt for products that come in glass jars.

One Balm, Seven Uses

One of my favourite multipurpose products? This Luxury Beauty Balm from Bramble & Blossom – it’s vegan, cruelty-free and palm oil free too. With it’s aluminium lid and glass jar, it’s also a great product to help you reduce your bathroom plastic. It’s already a pretty amazing product sustainability wise, but I really love how versatile it is.

Makeup Remover

This balm melts so nicely on the skin, turning into an oily formula that’s great for breaking down makeup and sweat at the end of the day. Just use a cloth wet with warm water to wipe the balm away.

Hair Mask

If you have a dry scalp, use this balm to give yourself a nice relaxing scalp massage – the rosemary oil will help soothe your scalp and stimulate hair growth, whilst the candelilla wax will help lift up any dry, dead skin. Just be sure to double shampoo! Otherwise you may look a tad greasy the next day.

Cleansing Balm

This fragranced balm warms up beautifully on the skin, turning to a nice oily texture which gently cleanses your pores and wipes away any dirt or residue that’s built up overnight or over a long day. This balm contains jojoba oil which is great for healing inflamed skin and candelilla wax which works well with clearing any dry patches.

look at that texture!
Moisturiser

Whilst my skin type isn’t dry enough to use this as a facial moisturiser, it’s great for deeply nourishing dry areas like elbows, knees and feet. I love to give myself a little foot mask with this balm – I just spread the balm over my feet, pop on some old socks and then rinse them clean after 30 minutes. This really helps me with having super soft feet all summer long.

Cuticle Conditioner

Treat your nails by using this balm as a cuticle conditioner. This rich and effective balm contains jojoba oil which is great for softening, soothing and maintaining healthy-looking nails. Looking after your cuticles is often an overlooked beauty step but it does wonders for growing strong nails and stimulating nail growth.

Face Mask

If you struggle with dry skin, try applying a thick layer of this balm to your face before washing off with a hot cloth 10 minutes later. One of the best things about using such an oily face mask is that you can easily work in a face massage as you treat your skin. You don’t need a fancy jade roller or stone, just use your hands and follow some tips from this article

Massage Balm

This balm is so smooth on the skin, it’ll work well as a massage balm all across the body. Whether that’s as a romantic treat between you and a partner, or a soothing treat on sore, aching muscles. The shea butter in this balm is great for soothing and calming skin, as well as leaving it moisturised so you’ll feel soft and rested after using this balm.

Less is More

Honestly, I adore a multi-use product – not only is it satisfying to have one product do so much but it’s also so satisfying to cut down on the number of beauty products that clutter up our cupboards. You don’t need millions of products with big claims – in fact using too many products actually causes chaos on most skin types! Learn to take time with your skincare and the results should follow. Properly work the cleansing balm into your skin. Take time for face masks, scalp massages and hand care. You’ll be surprised how much your skin will transform when you invest time and care rather than over polluting your face with products.

Their Ethics

There’s a lot to love about Bramble & Blossom – not just their products – but also the ethical approach they take to business. Here are a few practices which show off their values:

  • Creating products that are always vegan and cruelty free.
  • Employing a small team of local artisans based in Hertfordshire and all employees are paid above the national living wage.
  • Donating 2% of all profits to charities close to our hearts, often working to secure the future of our planet’s ecology.
  • Engaging only with suppliers that are as transparent as possible with their supply chain
  • Constantly working to be aligned with the UN sustainability goals (specifically goal 12) to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns  https://sdgs.un.org/goals/goal12

If suppliers don’t provide assurances that the people who are harvesting and producing raw materials on their behalf are safe and being paid a fair wage, that supplier won’t feature in our supply chain.  It is our belief that no worker, wherever they are in the world, should be put at risk or treated unfairly.
