Treat Your Hair, Save the Planet [ad]
You may be shocked to learn that only 50% of bathroom waste is recycled, compared to 90% of kitchen waste. Why is this? Some argue it’s convenience – how many of us have recycling bins in our bathrooms compared to our kitchens? Others would say it’s a lack of knowledge – what bathroom products can we actually recycle?…
So yeah, it’s complicated.

But why do we focus so much on recycling? Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely important, but it’s only the third ‘R’ in “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” One of the best (and super simple!) ways to minimise your bathroom waste is to reduce the packaging you bring in. Shampoo bars are one of the easiest switches you can make and Faith in Nature have designed two bars for people who are eco-conscious and not willing to compromise on having good hair.
The Shampoo Bars
Faith in Nature have long cared about sustainability and have been offering eco-friendly refill options for their liquid shampoos and conditioners, for years. However, I personally find shampoo bars easier and simpler than refills, so I was really excited when they launched two of their very own shampoo bars.

Finding the right bar for your hair
Together, these wonderfully simple shampoo bars, cater reasonably well for all hair types, but here’s some tips on choosing the right one for you:
- Coconut & Shea is a hydrating formula, best for curly/kinky hair
- Lavender & Geranium is a balancing all-rounder for straight/wavy hair
This is a welcomed change as I find that most natural beauty brands overlook creating inclusive products (please, someone, show me a natural vegan foundation with a good range of shades!!). I’m really happy to see that Faith in Nature have come up with new products that keep everyone in mind.
Super natural
As their name suggests, Faith in Nature love nature! They work really hard to harness all the power that nature has to offer, without destroying it. That’s why, like most of their products, both of these shampoo bars are:
- 100% natural origin
- vegan & cruelty-free
- made without parabens and SLS
- handmade and plastic-free
- and, bonus, ideal for travelling
My Thoughts & Review
Lavender & Geranium shampoo bar
As you might expect, I preferred the Lavender & Geranium shampoo bar. Not only was it more suited to my hair type, but the scent is perfect for an evening bather like myself. I was worried that I’d struggle to lather the SLS-free formula but this bar was easy-peasy to work with and sudsed up really nicely.
My scalp is quite sensitive as it is, but it’s at its most vulnerable in the colder months. Because of this, I have to admit that I was a little worried that trialling a new product would lead to a dandruff breakout. But fortunately, this gentle formula managed to clean my hair with no irritation. Top marks for that one! ✔️

coconut & Shea shampoo bar
Moving on to the Coconut & Shea shampoo bar now. I found this one to be just as easy to work with and it was still really gentle on my scalp. However, the main difference I really noticed was that my hair got greasy faster than it did with the other bar. I already wash my hair 3-4 times a week so this wasn’t ideal, but it’s not meant for my hair type and just goes to show how different the effects of each bar really are – which is a good thing!
Packaging
I’d also like to add that this product is completely plastic-free. I’ve bought solid products in cardboard before, only to find the bar inside wrapped in plastic. This is a real pet-peeve of mine (c’mon people! Don’t use plastic when you don’t have to!) but rest assured, these shampoo bars are only packaged in the cute cardboard box pictured above.
Are Faith in Nature Ethical?
I always encourage you guys to remember that money is power. Your purchases fund companies and shape beauty stats and trends. Never underestimate the power of your consumer choices and, where possible, support the companies that share your ethics.
When you buy from Faith in Nature you support a business that has been harnessing the power of nature, without harming it, since 1974. A business who were cruelty-free and vegan-friendly decades before it was trendy and as easy & simple to do. They make decisions that put people and the environment first. That means manufacturing locally, treating people fairly, and always going for the green option.
