The Best Lush Shampoo Bars For Afro Hair

Posted byNicole Whittle Posted onJuly 17, 2020 Comments0

When putting together my shampoo bar post for plastic-free July, I noticed it wasn’t too clear on the Lush website which shampoo bars were suitable for Afro hair. So I got in contact to check which formulas were best suited:

For Afro hair I would recommend the SLS free shampoo bars in particular the Coconut Rice cake! As well as Jason and the Argan Oil which is very rich too! Lathering the product in the hands and applying to the hair as opposed to the bar itself too – this helps with the longevity of the product!

Coconut Rice Cake (SLS FRee)

Coconut Rice Cake is hydrating coconut shampoo bar for hair that needs a generous moisture boost. Uses a conditioning duo of creamed coconut and organic coconut milk. Also contains soya lecithin for softness and plant fats that aid the absorption of all that moisture into the hair.

JASON AND THE ARGAN OIL (Contains sls)

Jason and the Argan Oil is (surprise!) an argan oil-packed shampoo bar that is formulated to support stronger, shinier, softer hair. Argan oil is combined with glycerine to give hair softness and shine. Also contains restorative rose absolute and oil to balance the scalp. Plus is has a beautiful Rose Jam scent.

Other SLS Free Bars

Other SLS free bars which are suitable for Afro hair include:

  • Flyaway Hair – for a breezy summer fragrance and sea salt induced volume and texture.
  • Angel Hair – a gentle formula which uses aquafaba for shine and strength; and ylang ylang to tone the scalp.
