Are Estrid Cruelty Free + Vegan?

Posted byNicole Whittle Posted onAugust 14, 2020 Comments0

Is it just me or is Instagram full of bloggers with their new Estrid razors? I’m always a little suspicious when a new ‘vegan’ brand crashes on to the scene, so when they got in contact (surprise, they wanted to *gift* me a razor!) I was keen to ask them some key cruelty-free questions.

Are Estrid cruelty free?

I’m happy to confirm that yes! Estrid are cruelty-free: they don’t test on animals, sell in China or have a parent company. However, they also don’t have any certifications yet – but this seems to be something that they’re working on. I’d love to see them Leaping Bunny certified for extra assurance.

For further information, please see the response I got from Estrid after sending across my CF Questionnaire:

We are currently looking into certification and hope to get this very soon

No, we don’t test our products on animals at any point

No they [suppliers] do not [test on animals]

No 3rd parties are testing on animals

We don’t sell to countries that require this [animal testing] by law

We’re not owned by another company

Are Estrid vegan friendly?

Yup! They’re very loud and proud about being a vegan product. They go into more detail in their FAQs:

The vegan part is in our lubricating strips! The lubricating and gentle strip on the razor is completely free from animal ingredients, and no tests have been done on animals.

Almost all razors that have a lubricating strip (which is a large majority of razors that is used for the body) contain Lanolin or Glycerin, which our strip doesn’t 🍃

Are Estrid supporting BLM?

When asked to share their stance on the Black Lives Matter social movement they replied with:

We have donated 100K SEK so far to the BLM movement

We are working on diversifying both the company and the people we collaborate with on our social media

from email with Estrid

FYI: 100k SEK is equal to 8,790.55 GBP according to google.

Love Vegan Beauty?

Hope you enjoyed this post! I’ve actually not tried this razor – I’m actually a fan of the Superdrug 5 Blade Rose Gold Razor [affiliate link] which also has a lubricated strip.
